01 · THE QUESTION
The review question
Card scheme invoices can contain thousands of lines across currencies, markets and fee types. The commercial question is simple: which charges agree with a published rule, and which require action?
A total agreeing to the ledger does not answer that question. Each charged line must be classified, matched to the rule in force and tested against the conditions that make the rule applicable.
02 · THE FRICTION
Why this is difficult
Invoice labels rarely match the rulebook cleanly. The same fee may depend on card role, transaction type, geography, currency, effective date and processing stage. A schedule can name a fee without stating a rate.
That distinction matters. A charge with no rule available to confirm it is not automatically an overcharge. It is an item to query with the invoice line, schedule and gap attached.
Missing support is a reason to investigate, not permission to overstate the finding.
03 · DENDROH'S WORK
What Dendroh does
Dendroh reads the invoices and published schedules through a shared scheme-fee model. It classifies each charge, selects the rule that could govern it and runs the reconciliation line by line.
Issuer, acquirer, merchant, cardholder and scheme roles.
Interchange, assessment, processing, cross-border or margin.
Product, geography, currency, amount, date and processing conditions.
The result remains tied to the invoice line and the schedule used. Currency populations remain separate, and a fee is only marked as matched when the evidence supports the rule.
04 · THE EVIDENCE
What the review finds
In the scenario, most lines reconcile. Eleven recurring line types, worth about $75,000 over six months, appear on invoices without a published rule available to confirm them.
Published rule found
The fee class, conditions and effective period agree.
No published rule found
The charge recurs, but the available schedule does not support it.
Rate cannot be tested
The schedule names the fee but supplies no rate for comparison.
05 · THE OUTCOME
What happens next
The finance team receives a prioritised exception record rather than an undifferentiated variance report. Matched charges can be accepted. Unsupported line types can be queried with the relevant evidence already assembled.
06 · AUTHORITY
Authority and accountability
Dendroh performs the reconciliation and prepares the exception record. An authorised finance or payments reviewer decides which charges to accept, query or pursue.
A missing published rule does not establish contractual recovery. That conclusion depends on the relevant agreement, further evidence and the people authorised to act.
